Things you need to know before starting the process
  • At a minimum, you need your Florida State “Class D” license, along with your Federal Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®).
  • You need a Florida State “Class G” license to work any Armed job site.
  • We drug test all employees upon hire and throughout employment. You cannot hold a Security license in the State of Florida if you use any controlled substance. This includes if you have a medical marijuana card and you use it legally. Under these same guidelines you cannot purchase, possess or own a firearm in the state of Florida.

Equipment you will need if hired for a Security Officer position
  • Nylon Duty Belt
  • Four Retention Straps for Duty Belt
  • Flashlight
  • Steel or Composite Toed Safety Black Boots 5 to 8 Inches in height.
  • For Class “G” Armed Security License Positions Only - you must provide at minimum, a Firearm (9mm, .40 cal, or .45 ACP), 3 Magazines, and a Level 2 or Level 3 Firearm Holster. Firearms must meet the below requirements:
    • Solid black in color.
    • No special graphics or designs.
    • Only manufacturer or company-engraved markings are allowed.  
    • Barrel length of 4 inches or more.
    • Trigger pull weight must be 5 pounds or more.
    • The maximum allowed capacity is 17 rounds per magazine
Do I need a State of Florida Class “G” Armed Security License to work for Martinez and Company?

The State of Florida Class “D” Unarmed Security License and the TWIC is the minimum licensing requirements to work at Martinez and Company. A State of Florida Class “G” Armed Security License is not required to work at Martinez and Company.

Do I need a Federal Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®)?

Yes, this is a Security Level Clearance you will be required to have. Your primary duties may require you to work at the maritime ports, or you may be called to support maritime operations.

Do I need my actual D license to apply or will the blue card work?

No, the State of Florida Blue Security Card will not be accepted. Do not apply for any positions until you have your actual D license and a receipt for a TWIC at a minimum.

Is it okay to take a ride share or taxi to work?

No, you are required to have your own reliable mode of transportation. This is not just a requirement to get to work, but you may need your vehicle for shelter at some job posts or may need to work different locations.

Am I compensated for having to use my own vehicle for outdoor shelter while at work?

The short answer is yes. That will be covered in your onboarding training.

What are the hours like?

That is covered in onboarding and hours vary depending on position your are hired for. Please refer to the duty descriptions of the position you are applying for.

Do I have to be a prior service military, law enforcement, or corrections to get hired by Martinez and Company?

No, there are some posts that have this as a requirement, but not all. As it does help, not having these backgrounds will not prevent you from getting an interview.

What is the pay like?

Each job site has a standardized rank pay and will likely have additional premiums based on client and facility assigned.

What is the advantage of getting a G license?

The G license is a minimum requirement for armed positions. In addition, the more licenses and certifications you have, the more areas in the company’s portfolio of job sites you can work, and the higher your rate of pay while working those sites.

Does the company pay for training?

The company will pay for time spent in onboarding training, site specific training, and trainings requiring mandatory attendance. Additional trainings are offered free of charge and are voluntary to attend (e.g., CPR/First Aid, Expandable Baton, OC Spray, Restraint Devices, etc.) All training provided is beneficial toward your advancement.

It is your responsibility to obtain and maintain your State of Florida Class “D” Unarmed Security License, State of Florida Class “G” Armed Security License, and your TWIC.
